Mathematics
The Mathematics program at August London High School is designed to provide all students with the opportunity to extend their mathematical knowledge and skills to their desired level, while ensuring they meet graduation requirements. Our curriculum is built on the principle of providing robust preparation for college-level mathematics, while also equipping students with practical mathematical tools for everyday life and future careers.
Our course offerings begin with foundational classes in Algebra and Geometry. These courses lay the groundwork for more advanced mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills. As students progress, they can move on to higher-level courses such as Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus, which delve deeper into abstract mathematical concepts and their applications.
For students seeking the most rigorous mathematical challenges, we offer Advanced Placement Calculus. This course introduces students to college-level calculus, covering topics such as limits, derivatives, and integrals. It prepares students for the AP Calculus exam and provides a strong foundation for future studies in STEM fields.
We also offer a Statistics course, recognizing the growing importance of data analysis in various fields. This course introduces students to statistical concepts, data collection methods, and probability theory, preparing them for both college-level statistics and real-world data interpretation.
Throughout our mathematics curriculum, we emphasize problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and the ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations. Our goal is to foster not only mathematical proficiency but also an appreciation for the power and beauty of mathematics in describing and analyzing the world around us.
