College Counseling

At August London High School, we understand that the college application process can be challenging. That's why our College Counseling program is designed to provide comprehensive, individualized support to guide students through every step of the college admission process.

Our dedicated college counselor works closely with each student to help them navigate the complexities of college applications. The program's mission is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to make informed decisions about their college choices, ensuring they find institutions that best match their individual needs and aspirations.

The college counseling process at August London High School begins in earnest during junior year, but we start preparing students for college from their first day at our school. Our counselor is available to advise, inform, clarify, guide, encourage, and support each student throughout their college search and application journey.

We host several annual events to engage students in thinking about college and to celebrate our seniors' achievements. Our College Fair brings representatives from various colleges and universities to our campus, allowing students to explore different options and ask questions directly to admission officers.

We also organize a special Senior College Day, where our graduating students share their college choices with the school community. This event not only celebrates our seniors' accomplishments but also inspires younger students as they begin to think about their own college journeys.

Throughout the year, we offer workshops on various aspects of the college application process, including essay writing, interview skills, and financial aid application. We also provide resources for standardized test preparation and arrange campus visits to help students get a feel for different college environments.
